IES MUN 2026 Conference in Warsaw

“A Europe built on cooperation that strengthens, diversity that inspires, and solidarity that unites.”
The IESMUN 2026 conference took place on 12–15 February at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and on the school premises. The event brought together over 270 participants – young people from Poland and across Europe. Delegations from schools in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom attended the conference, alongside students from Poland, including many participants from Warsaw high schools.
The first day of the conference, 12 February, began with a special guest speakers session held at the POLIN Museum. Delegates had the opportunity to listen to an outstanding group of speakers, including the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, Executive Director of Frontex Hans Leijtens, Ambassador Mark Brzeziński, journalist Piotr Kraśko, and Ana Maria Patru, Founder of Women for a Better Society. Their speeches provided valuable insights into diplomacy, democracy, the role of the media and international cooperation, encouraging young participants to reflect on global challenges and responsible leadership. The panel discussion that followed also attracted great interest among delegates and participants.
The event was further enriched by a performance from the IES Choir, led by Ms Kinga, which added a meaningful cultural and emotional element to the opening session.
The four-day conference was the culmination of many months of intensive work by the Secretary-General, Michalina, together with students from our school, the Conference Secretariat and their Faculty Advisors – Ms Anna and Mr Alec, teachers at our school.
We are extremely proud of our high school students, both for their professionalism and responsibility as organisers, and for the maturity, culture of debate and strong preparation demonstrated by the participants.
Model United Nations conferences have a unique educational and social dimension. Participants take on the roles of delegates of UN Member States, learning the principles of diplomacy, debate, negotiation and consensus-building. They develop language proficiency, critical thinking, teamwork and public speaking skills. Such conferences also provide a space for international exchange, building relationships and fostering openness, responsibility and civic engagement.
Participation in the IESMUN 2026 conference provided students with valuable experiences, inspiration for further development and motivation to actively engage in civic life. The event clearly demonstrated how much young people can achieve through cooperation, commitment and passion.
